Watching the Superbowl always reminds me my first job in New York was working for Sportvision. At a time when most people still had CRT screens and 1080p cameras cost 6 figures, doing augmented reality took a 2 person team and a day of setup. But we did the yellow line, and also did "virtual graphics" for NASCAR, baseball, basketball and golf. (we didn't call it AR back then). I spent a year flying to every college football game, and some basketball games and golf tournaments, making sure the graphics that I programmed worked and to make onsite adjustments for the producers if there was a story they wanted to tell. To this day when I watch a game, I'm really just checking the graphics are properly tracking.
