Very rarely in my work do my ideals align so wonderfully with the creative output. On the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall, I was humbled to be invited to collaborate with Listen and Microsoft on building Feel The Pride. An audio and LED installation space that also had daily programming for the LGBTQIA+ community for the week of Pride, including activism and advocacy as well as discussion. Presented by the Ally Coalition, the project invited the viewer to answer the question, “What does Pride mean to you?” Their answers were sentiment analyzed and generated music using sequences contributed by St. Vincent, controlled through Ableton, and the installation lit up in the colors and motion that corresponded with the user’s feelings.
